ABOVE: Morrigan and Scathach.
Battle was important to Celtic culture, as it seems that all the territories of Ireland and other Gaulish lands constantly fought each other. There were four important war goddesses in Celtic mythology, plus an important heroine who made her name in battle. Ravens were often mentioned as companions of the war goddesses, as harbingers of death.
The goddesses were Badb, Macha, Nemain, and (the) Morrigan, all members of the Tuatha de Danaan. The heroine's name is Scathach, and she is supposed to have been trained by the Morrigan.
